Overview
The Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center operated under the auspice of the Macomb County Executive Office is designed to provide a safe, secure and caring environment for youth who have struggled in the community and are under the jurisdiction of the Court. The facility is licensed by the State of Michigan as a Child Caring Institution. The facility is a 140 bed, secure facility designed to provide both short-term detention and long-term residential treatment services for youth between the ages of 10 to 17 years. Only youth who are accused of or adjudicated for a crime or violation of probation may be detained in the facility. Placement in the Center typically occurs once the Court has exhausted all other less restrictive services. The facility personnel are responsible for the care, guidance and control of youth placed in the Juvenile Justice Center. Youth are released from the Juvenile Justice Center only upon authorization of the Court.
